Pain after vibrator?

A couple of years ago my boyfriend bought me a vibrator which was made of a kind of jelly rubber than I learnt contained phthalates, a chemical which can be dangerous? After using the vibrator I always felt really sore and in pain for a day but thought it was just because the vibrator was too big. Now I am worried the chemicals may have hurt me? I don't feel pain (usually) during normal . I am going to as a doctor or someone about this, but should I be worried? i am going to throw out the toy but do you think it caused some lasting damage with its chemicals and is there any way to undo that?
