Does the repeal of DADT do anything to change the UCMJ ? Seems to me that something was always able to be?

legal in federal law and still illegal in the UCMJ. Before DADT, gays were kicked out for being gay, so now that DADT is gone, how exactly are gays protected from the law(UCMJ) which was kicking them out to begin with ?
